There are many classification methods for gravure presses, which can be classified from the forms of impression, the forms of printing materials, the chromatic number of printing materials and the uses of printing materials.
1. Classification of Press Printing Forms
According to the classification of plate and press mechanism, gravure press can be divided into two types: round press (cylinder is round, plate is flat, which is seldom used at present) and round press.
2. Classification by Substrate Morphology
Gravure presses can be classified into sheet-fed gravure presses and web-fed gravure presses according to the shape of the prints.
The prints of single-sheet gravure press are mainly printed paper and cardboard, sheet-by-sheet printing. According to the specifications of the prints, it can be divided into four series, opposite series and full sheet single-sheet gravure press.
Roll-paper gravure presses have different models and different structures. It is customary to call Roll-material presses for printing materials other than paper as roll-paper presses.
3. Classification by Printing Chromatic Number
Gravure presses can be divided into two categories: monochrome gravure presses and multicolour gravure presses according to the number of colours that can be printed at one time. Gravure presses are divided into one-sided gravure presses and two-sided gravure presses. Double-sided gravure press can print double-sided monochrome and double-sided polychromatic.
4. Classification by use of printed matter
Gravure presses can be classified into books and newspapers gravure presses and packaging materials gravure presses according to their uses. In intaglio printing press for packaging materials, it is divided into intaglio printing press for soft packaging materials and intaglio printing press for hard packaging materials.
